Baska Voda is situated beneath the magnificent mountain range of Biokovo. It is famous for its pebble beaches surrounded by dense pine tree forest. According to the archeological findings, this area was inhabited 4000 years BC and the principal reason of the inhabitation of the area of Baska Voda has been the spring of drinking water.

Baska Voda is a former fisherman's village situated approximately 10 km north of Makarska and just south of Brela; the city has a population of about 3000 people who mainly work with tourism.

The trail leads from Baška Voda, a village on the coast, towards the village of Bast, which is located at the foot of the mountain Biokovo near the Nature Park. The trail climbs steadily along a macadam road through fields and olive groves to the village of Bast, located at the southern end of the Sveti Ilija tunnel. Along the way there are beautiful views of Biokovo on one side and the sea.

One of the favourite destinations among tourists in Croatia, Baska Voda, is ready for another tourist season in 2020, this time in somewhat different conditions due to the coronavirus pandemic. On July 2, 2020, I visited Baska Voda to check if the town is welcoming tourists despite the pandemic.

As we already said, Baska Voda is a municipality in Makarska Riviera which is, on the other hand, one of the most beloved landscapes of Croatia. Just like any other place on the Riviera, Baska Voda is a blend of the Biokovo mountain and the azure Adriatic Sea.
